The Beacon Hill Business Association (BHBA) is back to hosting networking events post pandemic. The idea is to help new business owners get acquainted with the organization.

The networking event held on Tuesday offered new and upcoming businesses the opportunity to network with residents and current business owners to establish connections with BHBA.

The Association is now coming fully back to life with new business booming on Charles Street and the organization picking up pace since the pandemic.

“We're getting members together. In my opinion, what really is going on is this is sort of a first opportunity to have a little bit of a renaissance of the business association,” said Ali Ringenburg, a BHBA board member.

The Association has been active over the past of couple of years and now, wants to refocus on welcoming new business owners and in the area to work on smaller aspects of business. The new membership plan is a part of this regrouping structure.

Members of the BHBA can renew their membership for a nominal fee of $100 for the remainder of the year. For new members and those looking to get a membership for the coming year, the fee is estimated at $220.

The membership dues will be utilized toward hosting the organization's two annual events, The September Sidewalk Sale and The December Holiday Stroll. The idea behind the Holiday Stroll in Beacon Hill is attributed to the Nantucket Holiday Stroll, wherein Tom Shaw, one of the founding members of the BHBA wanted to create a similar look and feel of the festival in Boston.

"BHBA and the Civic Association work very well together in that respect. It's just a magical holiday time of year. It's part of kicking off the holidays in Beacon Hill, which is like the holiday stroll in Nantucket," said Jennifer Hill, owner of Blackstone’s of Beacon Hill.

The Association aims to build professional relationships with committees across the neighborhood to ensure the smooth functioning of events and invite new members to join the organization.

“I personally was really excited to see some of the shops that opened in the past year or year and a half, and I think it just adds to the vibrancy and most importantly to the diversity of the street,” said Ringerburg who also owns the Sloane Merrill Gallery.

A bicycle lane agreement and The Holiday Stroll are some of the primary agenda of the organization for 2023. BHBA will be hosting its elections early next year with prospective members joining the organization.

The Association, which is over 30 years old, is committed to advocating for local issues in the area about parking around Charles Street, neighborhood beautification, and the organization's crime watch.
