The Charles River Esplanade did not make this year’s list of America’s ten most popular riverwalks compiled by USA Today’s “Reader’s Choice Travel Awards” program.
Last year, the 64-acre Esplanade ranked eighth.
The publication’s editors choose the country’s top 20 riverwalks and let its readers vote for the top 10 in an online poll.
Lauren Vitacco, the Esplanade Association’s External Relations Manager commented that “it is of course unfortunate that the Charles River Esplanade did not get the recognition all of us here in Boston know it deserves. This year we have focused a lot of our efforts in exciting upcoming programs and events over to produce free quality events and programming we all love. We will always continue to champion the Charles River Esplanade as an amazing riverside park, and we do not need a list to remind us that we are an iconic gem of Boston.
