Every year, the Boston Municipal Research Bureau honors city employees for their dedicated service with the Shattuck Award.

One of this year’s winners is Sergeant Detective John Boyle, head of the Boston Police Department’s Media Relations. Being a cop isn’t easy these days and being their spokesperson is harder still.

The Boston Guardian’s editors and reporters have dealt with Boyle for years and have always found him professional, unflappable and always honest.
