POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS

District 4: 650 Harrison Avenue, 617-343-4457

District A-1: 40 New Sudbury Street, 617-343-4627

Four Thugs

Four known shoplifters entered Saks Fifth Avenue’s Men Store at 100 Huntington Avenue around 3pm on February 7.

When a security guard approached them, all four thugs joined in and assaulted him. Guess they’re like coyotes, as individuals they’re cowards but find strength being part of a pack.

Thankfully, the guard did not require medical attention. The assailants fled in a black Toyota Venza with Rhode Island license VA744. We’ll be seeing them again in court when they are apprehended.

Before fleeing, one of them grabbed a blue Burberry sweatshirt worth $760.

More Aggressive Shoplifters

Has something been added to Boston’s drinking water that is making thieves more brazen?

Half an hour after the assault at Saks, two different shoplifters entered Rag & Bone at 111 Newbury Street and made off with two bags worth $1,045 before fleeing toward Dartmouth Street.

One of the shoplifters actually returned to the store to retrieve his cell phone that he had left in the back of a stock room. He tried to force his way into the room but fled after 911 was called.

Officers took possession of his black Samsung phone.

While this was happening, his companion entered Longchamp at 139A Newbury Street looking “very sweaty” to catch his breathe. After a few moments he departed but was caught on the store’s video surveillance camera.

Obnoxious Patrons

Forget the aggression that might be caused by the city’s drinking water. Fire water definitely brings out the worst in people.

About 11pm on February 8, D4 officers responded to a radio call for a fight at Jillian’s at 145 Ipswich Street.

Upon arrival, they found three men yelling outside the establishment. The officers could clearly see that two of them were clearly intoxicated due to their slurred speech and that they were extremely uncooperative when being questioned.

The three had been expelled from the club for being rowdy. The sober one was permitted to drive his companions away from the scene, but not before they were cited for disorderly conduct. We’ll see how cogent and civil they are when they appear before a judge at Boston Municipal Court.

Because the incident started inside Jillian’s, the place was issued a licensed premise inspection notification.

Chicken Over Children

We’ve been seeing some mention on social media about the parking situation outside of Chick-fil-A at 565 Boylston Street. Guess the product is outstanding. Just ask the mother of a young child.

A D4 officer responded to a call from a Meter Maid at about 1pm on February 9 who told him that she came across a vehicle parked at a fire hydrant with a 2-year old child left alone inside. Our ticket writer waited about nine minutes beside the car for the mother to arrive.

She admitted to leaving her daughter unattended so she could pickup some food from Chick-fil-A and promised never to do it again.

She left with her food and a ticket for parking near a hydrant.

What’s in a Name?

Poor Saks Fifth Avenue. First four thugs attacking a security guard and then a simple shoplifter. Talk about de-escalation.

About 4:10 on February 12, police responded to a shoplifting in progress at Saks at 1 Ring Road. Nothing like being a man looking totally disheveled browsing the women’s clothing aisle. He concealed a silver-colored handbag on his person and left the store where he was intercepted by store security.

D4 officers arrived shortly thereafter. The suspect initially attempted to give the false alias of his brother. So much for sibling love.

At the dude’s booking, police were able to identify him because of his tattoos. Ok, body markings are not as good as fingerprints, but they were sufficient in this case.

Needless to say, there were some outstanding felony warrants in his rightful name. Can’t wait for the next family reunion after he’s ultimately released.
