Bomb Threat At approximately 8:30pm on June 4, the front desk at the Copley Plaza Hotel received a call stating that a person in a room upstairs had a suicide vest on and was going to take the lives of many of the guests as well as their own.

Boston Police, EMS, SWAT, Explosives, and negotiators responded immediately to the scene only to find that the call had been a hoax. It is believed to be an ongoing issue between two parties, however, the threat still remained very serious at the time. No further information is available.

Needing Exercise

Thursday afternoon on June 7, shortly before 5:30 hours, Boston Police Officers assigned to District D-4 were patrolling their area when they observed a man inside the O'Day Playground at 75 West Newton Street.

Officers circled back to engage him as part of an ongoing investigation when they observed the man clutching at an object in the waistband of his pants. The suspect then fled the scene, inciting a foot chase between the suspect and the investigating officers. They were able to stop him in the area of Public Alley 716 in Roxbury.

The officers were able to recover a .380 caliber Bersa Thunder Handgun near 48 West Springfield Street, which he had discarded underneath a parked motor vehicle when he fled. The suspect has been identified as Jaheim Clarke, 18, of Lower Roxbury, and he is expected to appear in Boston Municipal Court on multiple charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

Assault Near BPL

At 1:15am on June 8 Boston Police Officers responded to the area of Copley Square for reports of an assault on the steps of the Boston Public Library (BPL).

Units responded and found one victim that had been assaulted and left in the street near the BPL. Boston EMS responded to the scene and began rendering aid before transporting him to a local area hospital.

The assault, which is believed to have been carried out by two male suspects, led to the arrest of one, with the other still outstanding. The arrest information for the one that was taken into custody has not yet been released. There has been no update on the condition of the victim or the other suspect in connection to the incident.

Trying to Blowup His Girl Friend

At approximately 7:40pm on Monday, June 10, Boston Police received calls of a suspicious package in the area of 79 Gainsborough Street.

The Bomb Squad, the K-9 Unit, Boston EMS, and Boston Fire were all called in to the scene. The suspicious package appeared to be a homemade bomb, which is thought to be made by an emotionally distressed person and put at the front door of his girlfriend’s house.

The individual believed to be responsible for the bomb was evaluated by EMS and ultimately did not require transport to a hospital. Rather, he was taken into custody by BPD.
