Preppie Thief

On Monday, May 10 at 11:30am Ralph Lauren at 95Newbury Street was the first retailer of the week to have merchandize “liberated”. A female with long black hair and wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and red and white sneakers stole eight pairs of jeans valued at $100 each. Guess there’s no sales tax when you steal clothing.

The good news is that at least this thief now has a preppy wardrobe just in time for summer on the Cape.

Remember Record Players?

They were devises used to listen to music by our grandparents. Who knew they are still being made? On May 10 around 2pm a 40 something year old man wearing a blue wind breaker and black pants stole not one, but three Crosley Cruiser record players from Urban Outfitters at 361 Newbury Street worth $99 each (plus tax). Good luck finding the round vinyl discs needed to play the music.

Purses Can Be Pricey

May 10 was a busy day for shoplifting. At 2:17pm police responded to Saks Fifth Avenue on Ring Road to deal with a stolen purse. Seems a tall male wearing a black jumpsuit and a bright green Celtics backpack walked right up to a display, grabbed a tan Mcqueen woman’s purse valued at $1,500 and fled. We doubt the purse was for his personal use as tan does not go well with black and green. The thief is definitely not into color coordination and should probably find himself a personal shopper on his next outing.

Room Service

On Tuesday, May 11 at 10:05am, D4 officers were asked to remove a guest from room 701 at the Lenox Hotel at 61 Exeter Street.

Seems our “tourist” had been having guests in and out and the maid saw towels under the door which is consistent with smoking in the rooms. Sound a little like college.

Unlike dorm life, however, the cleaning crew saw multiple used needles and rubber tourniquets which are used by drug users to get high. No guests were in the room but police found a small black pouch containing three plastic baggies with a brownish white substance believed to be heroin or fentanyl, two pipes and a digital scale.

The computerized room lock was changed and access was denied. The occupant called the hotel several times that day asking if a friend could pick up his belongings but no one showed up.

Stealing a Unicycle

In the late afternoon of Wednesday, May 12, someone stole a black and white Giant Defy 18-speed road bike which had been locked at 351 Newbury Street. All that was left was just one tire and the lock.

Stealing a bike with one tire makes no sense unless the thief likes 9-speed unicycles.

Coco Would Not Approve

At 4:36am on Friday, May 14, officers responded to a report of a breaking and entering in progress at Chanel located at 6 Newbury Street. The thief was wearing all black which Coco Chanel would never have approved. Perhaps a red mask or white heels or something to offset dark attire would work. The burglar fled towards the Public Garden.
